The Department of Chemistry came into existence in the year 2005 and over a period of time, it has emerged as premier Departments of Baba Farid College. The Department have been rendering its services with specialization in Physical and Organic Chemistry. The Department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members from diverse streams and specializations. The varied courses offered by this department have made the students resourceful to get placed into different educational and industrial sectors.
The department is well known for its academic activities and has well equipped laboratories along with an excellent library with its best collection of books, journals and online resurces. Experiential learning through live-projects and Certificate Courses at both Graduation and Post-graduation level to encourage research activities. Seminar and extension lectures are also provided by the guest faculties to aspire the students.
With advent of the new era, other young and energetic faculty members have also joined the department. With this input the department is marching forward in newer areas of research and teaching. The accomplishments of this department are specially attributed to the collaborative efforts of the teaching faculty, students and the non-teaching staff of the department.

The Mathematics department is one of the prestigious department of Baba Farid College . It was established in 2006. Post graduation(M.Sc Maths) and Graduation course(B.Sc Hons Maths) run under this department. For the fulfilment of its teaching, the Department has competent faculty members with the high degree of excellence, which keeps pace with current developments in the field of specialization. The Department organizes a number of activities for the overall development of students like Extension lectures, Quiz contests, Conferences, Educational visits, Group discussions etc. The faculty participates in various conferences, seminars, workshops and field visits. The students are given the opportunity to participate at departmental academic events. This has enhanced their learning skills. The faculty and students have been exposed to the usage of computer packages and utilize audio visual aids for learning and teaching. In M.Sc Maths those elective subjects choose which are beneficial for students in CSIR-UGC NET and Coaching classes for CSIR-UGC NET are provided by Faculty to students along with their daily curriculum.

The Department of Biotechnology, a constituent of Baba Farid College was initiated in 2005 with the affiliation from Punjabi University Patiala. The focus of department is to provide excellent environment and state-of-the-art infrastructure for hands on training with industrial training. The Department offers graduation programme B.Sc. Biotechnology from 2005 and the programme updated to CBCS as B.Sc. (Honors) Biotechnology in 2018. A rich Faculty resource, each holding Doctoral Degree/CSIR or ARS NET with diverse skill sets, are engaged in intensive curriculum with students. The Department has a wide range of laboratories facilities namely Cell Biology Lab, Microbiology Lab, Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology Lab, Immunology and Biochemistry, Microbial & Environment Biotechnology Lab equipped with world class instrument facilities.
To ensure the quality student product, workshops/ seminars/ Industrial Expert Talks/Industrial Visits/internships organized regularly to disseminate developments in the discipline of Biotechnology. Research & Innovative projects are the backbone of progressing department. Students undergo industrial training at institutions of national repute like CRI Kasauli, NDRI, IIFPT- ICTC Bathinda, UCER – BFUHS, Faridkot, GADVASU- Ludhiana, PAU-Ludhiana, Verka Milk Plant Pvt. Ltd., Punjabi University Patiala, Orbit Biotech Pvt. Ltd. Chandigarh, Biotech Research Zirakpur, Abca Biosolutions- Mohali etc. for experimental, hands on experience to increasing the possibility of research, social development employment and entrepreneurship for students in this industrial belt. Student feedback is taken by conducting regular tests, their participation in the various committee Board and participation in cultural activities to enhance their learning skills.

For the overall development of students, the Department has outstanding infrastructure facilities, including well-equipped classrooms and fully furnished Physics & Chemistry labs for providing practical exposure to the students.
The Department organizes a number of activities for the overall development of students like Extension lectures, Quiz contests, Conferences, Educational visits, Group discussions etc. Projects are given to students in every subject in every semester to create scientific reasoning among students. Computer Science Department of Baba Farid College, Bathinda is a teaching department that aims at providing quality education in the field of Computer Science. Apart from teaching postgraduate and under-graduate classes, the faculty is also involved in research and development programs. The support structure of the department provides all the required non-academic support to the students and the faculty. The department organizes various extension lectures, Seminars, Conferences throughout the academic session that provided students and the faculty more help in their research and study.
Today, Information Technology has become pervasive, while its parent, Computing Science, has become hard to find. There are several ways to present the canonical core of computing science. Over the years we have developed a distinctive style and method that bridges the theory-practice divide while remaining grounded in the core. To fulfill the need of practical knowledge the department has seven fully equipped computer labs and one Language Lab having ultra modern hardware and software. We want the education imparted to our students to be the basis of a lifetime of learning.

The Department of Zoology, Baba Farid College, Deon, Bathinda was established in 2018. The Department was initiated with Master's degree programme in the field of Zoology to impart quality education and to produce a class of committed teachers, researchers and technocrats to safeguard animal ethos and modernize the use of animals in century old traditions in Punjab. The role of educational institutions is to understanding the biodiversity, ecology, entomology, etc. The vision is to provide academic leadership to the subject of zoology and undertake quality research of global standing while maintaining teaching quality at both UG& PG levels, ensuring high academic performance of the students empowered with entrepreneurial and industrial skills as also enlightened with the research avenues.

The Department of Botany, Baba Farid College, Deon, Bathinda came into existence in 2018 with a view to prepare students desirous of learning, understanding, teaching and practicing various aspects of Plant science. The Department offers teaching in the subject of botany at the undergraduate and post graduate level. Department is committed to have the best infrastructure and facilities for imparting good quality higher education. The department takes a conscious effort to expand its teaching program bringing together novel developments in the field with traditional to advanced areas of Botany through field excursions and projects. The Department of English is an integral and important part of Baba Farid College. The Department currently offers Post Graduation in English (Master of Arts) - a two year regular program. Additionally, It caters the needs of the various undergraduate programs of Baba Farid College that includes English language as a course.
The Department is a fine blend of youthful exuberance and practical experience. The faculty members are dedicatedly engaged in research (in which students are involved as well) and teaching. The department was elevated as P.G. Department in the year 2011 with the objective of fulfilling the demand of the students as the number of students studying history as a subject increased manifolds. The department aims to promote not only the study of history as a subject but also to promote inquisitiveness amongst students and learning through research in their respective areas i.e. to promote & trace local history through various activities organized by the department.
The MA programme of the department is spread over 4 semesters involving 96 credits; the study of the history of Punjab is compulsory. Along with the PG Program, the department also serves the needs of undergraduate students studying History as a course.
The driving force of History department is its highly qualified and dedicated faculty. The teachers attend various Orientation and Refresher's Courses, faculty development programme, seminars, conferences, and workshops to upgrade and update their knowledge and to catch up with the latest theories and trends in their respective fields. The Department of Political Science is an integral part of Baba Farid College. The Department currently offers Post Graduation in Political Science-Two year regular programme since 2011.

Department of Geography established in the year 2011 in Baba Farid College which offers a post graduate program as M.Sc. Geography along with elective subject-Geography for Bachelor of Arts. The main aim of the department is to enable students at the forefront of education, mapping skills, research and to enhance the professional development of students. The concept of smart classroom is highly endorsed in the department where ICT multimedia is used along with green/white board for lecture delivering, use of 3D models, animations, live project presentation, quiz competitions, field project reports that involves an extensive field work are basic features of the department.
Students in the M.Sc. degree program will get an ability to think analytically about contemporary Environmental Issues from Local to Global level. Students will be well known about sustainable practices as solutions to the major environmental problems. Students will have an in-depth understanding of, and mastery of the literature of Geography both in Physical as well as Human Geography. M.Sc. Geography will enhance students’ skills and knowledge of Remote Sensing and GIS, which is widely used for monitoring, assessing and analysis the earth surface time to time. The program is helpful to demonstrate an ability to present and defend research work in oral, written, graphic and cartographic forms. The under graduate students will be able to understand the geography of world, locations, climates, landforms and basics of map making skills. The field visits initiated by the department for post graduate and under graduate students will enhance the knowledge of Geography students by giving them first-hand information about city mapping, planning and management.

The Department of Arts of Baba Farid College offers the degree program leads to the award of Bachelors’ of Arts degree. The degree program of B.A (General) initiated in 2005. Department of Arts contains elements from the Social Sciences which is interdisciplinary in nature.
Arts include those academic disciplines that study aspects of human society and culture. In the Renaissance, the term contrasted with divinity and referred to what is now called classics, the main area of secular study in universities at the time. In contemporary times, the Arts are more frequently contrasted with natural, and sometimes social sciences, as well as professional training.
The department is collaboration of social sciences, languages and arts disciplines. The department offers Economics, Mathematics, Geography, Political Science, History, Music, Physical Education and Computer Applications, English Literature and Punjabi Literature as elective courses for the fulfillment of Bachelors’ of Arts degree. This industry majorly deals with the products which are intangible things which can only be experienced. This course gives students the basics in navigating tourism & travel industry.
Students in this course will learn about latest trends in tourism business. Some introductory travel and tourism classes will highlight about the various positions available for tourism & travel students; these include hotel manager, airline manager, event planner, travel agent and others. The other thing worth mentioning is that the tourism & travel sector can be a lot of fun to work in. The Department of Agriculture, a constituent of Baba Farid College was started in the year 2006. The department of Agricultural is at the forefront of agricultural education, producing students who are articulate and equipped with academic knowledge and practical skills suited to a range of agricultural and rural sector employment opportunities. Our college is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala offering B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture a 4 year programme after 10+2 and M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy) a 2 years programme after graduation.The infrastructural facilities of the Department include Agricultural farm equipped with farm machinery for providing training to students in all practical (through teaching at the College Farms) aspects of soil, water and crop management.
We have well established plant nursery, acquainting students with horticultural and floricultural aspects. There are twelve well equipped labs with latest equipments, instruments, specimens and chemicals providing facilities for Soil and Water testing, seed quality testing, diagnosing plant samples for diseases and insects attack, recording weather observations, milk testing and preparing various milk products, animal care and management, land surveying etc. to enable students in tackling problems encountered by farmers in farming. Besides this, the Department of Agriculture is also equipped with hi-tech facilities like wi-fi system for internet access. We are also putting our efforts to provide research oriented education to the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy). For this, we have subscriptions of number of journals and agriculture magazines. It is worth mentioning here that the Department has Ph.D. holder, NET qualified and experienced staff in the field of Agronomy, Agro-meteorology, Entomology, Horticulture, Forestry, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant pathology, Soil Science, Botany, Zoology and Agricultural Engineering.
Students of Agriculture are performing Live Projects on various aspects like cultivation of vegetables, raising of vegetable nursery, latest techniques like use of leaf colour chart, bulb set technique of raising Kharif onion, training and pruning of fruit plants, hybrid seed production, soil testing, collection of live diseased samples of various crops, use of agricultural machinery and equipments, preservation of fruits and vegetables, bee-keeping, vermicompost etc.
