One to One Mentoring Session to Shield (A New Age Chaff Cutter) on 25/06/2022

Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship organized an Online one to one mentoring session for its upcoming startup Shield (A new Age Chaff Cutter) on 25th June 2022. The main resource person of this startup is program was Mr. Vijay Nadiminti CEO of AgHub and moreover he is a lead mentor of this also. He is having a vast experience in entrepreneurship as he is a successful entrepreneur as well as a mentor of number of startups.

In this session he checked all the technical details of the machine which is developed by the students of department of Agriculture. He also provided valuable suggestions regarding the overall pitch deck, and asked the young students to work upon the revenue model of this machine as it is very much important to lay down all the bits and bytes of the finances. Then he suggested to formulate a comparative table depicting their compotator all specifications, technical parameters, throughput details and financial aspects, so that they can easily place their product in a competitive way which could turn their expenses into a handsome profit.

At the end of the session Dr. Manish Gupta Dean (Research and innovation) concluded the session and presented the vote of thanks to the resource person.

I - CAN (Business Idea Competition) 26th May 2022

Baba Farid Group of Instituitions organized its trademark annual event 'I-CAN– Business idea competition on the 26th May 2022 sponsored by Startup Punjab, Govt. of Punjab and in association with Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship (BFSoE), Innovation Mission, Punjab and Instituition’s innovation council. This competition was organized into two rounds, first round was conducted at the Various Faculties level. In the first round of Event total 68 teams from various faculties of Engineering, Business Studies, Agriculter, Computers, Sciences and Arts participated with their business. Out of all these, 18 teams were shortlisted for the final round.

The main expert of the event were Mr. Sateyandra Singh, CEO, TBI, IISER Mohali, Ms. Aanchal Sood from innovation mission, Punjab and Mr. Rahul Gupta from PABI, Punjab Agriculter University, Ludhiana. The event was started with the Dr. Manish Gupta, Dean R & I valuable speech on School of entrepreneurship, its working and hand holding support to all students in terms of IP, Marketing, strategic planning etc. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI. Dr. Dhaliwal motivated all the students and shared his own life’s experience as an entrepreneur. He emphasized students to work upon their technical skills, attitude and time management. After Chief Guest speech Mr. Satyendra Singh explained the working of an incubation center. How it helps the young entrepreneurs and guide them through out the startup journey. Ms. Aanchal Sood motivated students by sharing a startup journey of a very young boy that how he started and now running his own enterprise. After this all the Experts were facilitated by the Chairman, BFGI. At the end Er. Sunil Nagpal presented the vote of thanks to all the dignatroies and students.

On the basis of technical and Innovative parameters, Team Chaff Cutter stood first, Team RTC Based High Power Controller stood second and Team Eco Friendly Inscence Sticks stood third in the competition. These winning teams were awarded with rupees 11,000/-, 5,100/- and 3,100/- respectively. Also, School of Entrepreneurship assures all the winners to provide full incubation support from BFSOE, which will help them to convert their Business ideas into a startup. Incubation support includes Business/technical mentoring, Identify Customer Behavior, IPR Support etc.

During the prize distribution and valedictory ceremony Mr. Salil from Startup Punjab joined and appreciated the efforts done by the BFSoE and the initiatives to support the development of Start up Ecosystem in Punjab. He further assured that the Start up Punjab cell is always there to support such initiatives by various incubators. All the Judges and the organizing members of the Event present over there were very impressed and appreciated the ideas and wish all the teams best of luck. Dr. Manish Gupta Proposed the Vote of Thanks to all the experts, students and specifically startup Punjab for sponsoring the event. At the end Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated the work done by the students and BFSoE and assured full support to build an ecosystem of startup.

Guest Lecture on opportunity and challenges in Family Business on 22nd April, 2022

The Faculty of Arts, Baba Farid College in collaboration with the Research and Innovation centre organised a guest lecture on "Opportunity and Challenges in Family Business".The resource person of this event was Shri Umesh Srivastava,Faculty EDII, Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmedabad.The idea of organizing this seminar is to inculcate the fundamentals, key concepts of Entrepreneurship among students. Approximately 70 students from different streams successfully participated in the seminar.

The guest speaker of the event was heartily welcomed by Mr. Sunil Nagpal and Miss. Simranpreet kaur, Assistant professor in English. Mr. Umesh Srivastava has briefly discussed the opportunities and challenges in Family Business. The speaker showed some PPT slides related to the topic and he spoke about the challenges we could face as an entrepreneur. He shared examples of startup founders who used different methods to address their challenges in business. He further suggested various techniques to expand the Family Business. He also encouraged students to come out with determination to do something of their own and the session ended with a QA session and followed by a Feedback session.

Dr. Pardeep Kaura, Principal, BFGI presented a small token of appreciation to the guest speaker. Hence, it will be a good opportunity for the young entrepreneurs to conduct their businesses and uplift the economy of India with their innovative ideas. CODEVISTA on 20th April 2022

Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship (BFSoE) (An Incubator) organized an event 'CODVISTA – Developer to Entrepreneur' on the 20th April 2022. In this Contest total 35 teams registered initially. Out of all these teams after the initial screening best 13 teams were shortlisted. All the Teams were very enthusiastic about the contest. Teams had to explain their project and ideas in front of the judges at individual level, where they got 5 to 10 minute.

On the basis of technical and business point of parameters out of 13 teams, Top 3 teams were selected, Woof, Jarvis and UI Challenge. These teams were awarded with rupees 3,100/-, 2,100/- and 1,100/- respectively. Along with full incubation support from BFSOE, which will help them to convert their Projects into a startup. Incubation support includes Business/technical mentoring, Identify Customer Behavior, IPR Support etc.

All the Judges and the organizing members of the Event present over there were very impressed and appreciated the ideas and wish all the teams best of luck. Dr. Manish Gupta, Dean R & I, presented vote of thanks, and thanked the Management of BFGI for the support and guidance.

Expert talk on "A Road to Agri-Entrepreneur" on 30th March, 2022

An Expert Talk was organized by the Skill Development team of Faculty of Agriculture, BFC along with School of Entrepreneurship, on March 30th 2022 with an aim to provide the knowledge to the participants regarding the prospective of becoming an entrepreneur and choosing organic farming as an option for business as well for providing knowledge of this topic and would resolve many queries of students at a practical level which would inspire them for choosing entrepreneurship as an option.

Mr. Tyagi chaired the session. He was welcomed by Dr Ankit Sharma, Assistant Professor. He also co-chaired the seminar. Total 45 Students of B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) and 4 faculty members of Department of agriculture attended this seminar. In the seminar, Mr. Ajay Tyagi shared the information regarding his journey towards entrepreneurship. Apart from working with farmers and bringing them closer to the market, he is also practising farming & vermicomposting in 35 acres land in Meerut & Bulandshahr. He firmly believes that unless farmers get their products delivered directly to the end consumers, their economic status would never improve. He resolved various queries raised by the students regarding organic farming, its marketing and hurdles.

At the end he motivated the students that good food is very important for us and organic farming is a best business to be absorbed in. As agricultural students you have to find the ways to increase the awareness regarding organic food among the farmers and their families. Mr. Ajay Tyagi told students about his youtube channel “Karbanic Organic” and motivated them to work for the welfare of farmers. Dr Ankit Sharma presented vote of Thanks in the end of the session.

Impact Lecture on "Innovation and Patents" on 29 March, 2022

IIC of Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration of School of Entrepreneurship has successfully organised Impact lecture on Innovation and Patents in two sessions on dated 29 March, 2022 under the leadership of Hon’ble Chairman Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal. Both the sessions were conducted by the expert Ms. Neha Goyal, Director, UniPatrde. First session has conducted by the expert Ms. Neha Goyal, Director, UniPatrde at 11:00 am to 12:30 am on Innovations and second session was on Patents conducted by her from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. About 60 B.Tech students of Final & Pre-Final Year (engaged in funded project especially) have attended the sessions.

Dr Manish Gupta, Dean R & D, BFGI welcomed the expert and introduced her to audiences. Neha Goyal is an IPR Practitioner, having a total working experience of 14 years in Intellectual Property Rights. She is a Gold Medalist in Bioinformatics from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and served three years as Lecturer in a couple of reputed colleges. Thereafter, she moved to a couple of International IPR firms. She has extensive hands-on experience in handling Patent Analytics, Patent Drafting, Patent Filing, Patent Prosecution, Trademark, and Design related portfolios. She has worked for a prestigious clients like Microsoft, Boston Scientific, Unilever, GSK, Top Glove, TelAviv University, UFLEX Ltd, Proxgy, ABES Engineering College, Krishna Engineering College, RD Engineering College, Inderprastha Engineering College, Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology, Integral University, Jamia Hamdard University, ISG based in US and many startups.

Ms. Neha Goyal, made a presentation on bridging the gap from research to innovation. She explained the relation between inventions and innovations, the gaps between lab research and innovative research and gave a glimpse of various models of academia‐industry interactions, constraints felt and the efforts of the Government of India for financial support for this endeavour. She made the participants aware about latest innovations in different fields of Engineering and technology. She shared that technology innovation is an extended concept of innovation. Innovation is the practical implementation of ideas that result in the introduction of new goods or services or improvement in offering goods or services. Innovation is production or adoption, assimilation, and exploitation of a value-added novelty in economic and social spheres; renewal and enlargement of products, services, and markets; development of new methods of production; and the establishment of new management systems. It is both a process and an outcome. She also answered the queries of the students.

In the second session, Ms. Neha Goyal, made a presentation on Patent. She elaborated that the patents provide incentives to the individuals by recognizing their creativity and offering the possibility of material reward for their marketable inventions. These incentives encourage innovation, which in turn enhances the quality of human life. A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention of a product or process that provides a new way of doing something, or that offers a new technical solution to a problem. A patent provides patent owners with protection for their inventions. Protection is granted for a limited period, generally 20 years. She also shared the patenting procedures and patent informatics to search for patent application related info on‐line from very impressive IPO website. She also shared about the IPR and Dr, Manish Gupta shared the policy of IPR of BFGi to students. Ms. Neha also answered the queries of students. The both the sessions were very informative and interactive. Dr Manish Gupta concluded the session and thank to the experts and participants.

One Day Workshop on Business Model Canvas (BMC) on 22/02/2022

Baba Farid College of Management & Technology (A Leading B- School) in collaboration with Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship organized One Day Workshop on Business Model Canvas (BMC) for the students of MBA first year (2021-2023) on 22-02-2022 in college campus. The session was started with the warm welcome of the resource person (Mr. Sukhmander Singh, Assistant Professor in Commerce (Baba Farid College)) by Mr. Sahil Sidana (AP in BFCMT). Dr. Manish Gupta (Dean, Research & Innovation) also joined the session and imparted knowledge about entrepreneurship and about opportunities they can have in this field and discussed how students can make their skill as earning. Also he informed the facilities and support system of incubation center of BFGI.

After this, motivational video was played regarding how passion can be converted into profitable profession. Firstly, one needs to identify our passion and then problem in market and last one needs to find solution of the problem and convert it into our profession.

Moving further, resource person (Mr. Sukhmander Singh) was invited on stage to start their workshop regarding Business Model Canvas. First, he described about meaning of Business Model Canvas. He clearly explained three different keywords. He explained Nine Building Blocks of Business Model Canvas (Customer, Value, Channel, Relationship, Revenue Stream, Key resources, Key activities, Key partner, Cost). Moreover, he described all the nine building blocks related to this application so this made session more interesting and fruitful.

Workshop on Capacity Building Program on the working of Incubation Centre on 16/02/2022

Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship organized a one day Capacity Building Program for it's staff members. The main resource person of this capacity building program was Mr. Vijay Nadiminti CEO of AgHub. He is having a vast experience in entrepreneurship as he is a successful entrepreneur as well as a mentor of number of startups. In this capacity building program he provided his expert suggestions regarding the overall program structure of incubation that how and from where the program must start and land with a decent Milestones. Er. Sunil Nagpal the moderator of this program presented a 3-stage incubation training program and asked Mr. Nadiminti to give his valuable inputs. He explained in a detailed manner that how we could frame this incubation training program and how to start, what kind of tasks should be given to the incubates. Also he emphasized that do not make it mandatory to all the students rather let the students come to you and present their ideas/prototypes and from there the Incubation Centre roles’ come in the picture and it can take them to another level. It took two hours to complete this session including all the queries and the doubts of the team members. At the end of the session Dr. Manish Gupta Dean (Research and innovation) concluded the session and presented the vote of thanks to the resource person.

One Day Workshop on Design Thinking on 10-02-2022

Department of Business Studies of Baba Farid College of Management & Technology (A Leading B- School) in association with Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship, organized One Day Workshop on Design Thinking for the students of MBA first year (batch 2021-23) and Second year (batch 2020-22) on 10-02-2022 through online mode. In this session, different ways and methods were discussed with the students to explore the concept of Design Thinking.

The session was started with the warm welcome of the resource person Kushal S L, Founder and CEO at Sapientury by Er. Sunil Nagpal (Assistant Professor, DCSE). Dr. Manish Gupta (Dean, Research & Innovation) introduced the expert with all the attendees. Firstly, the resource person explained about design thinking why, what and how it is used with the various steps in each case including tools and practices. He described the different steps such as Design Case & Personal Definition, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test and Implement.

Students had many queries and they got their doubts cleared. At the end Ms. Bhawana Khanna, (Head, Department of Business Studies, BFCMT) presented vote of thanks to the resource person. After that, Dr. R. K. Uppal (Principal, BFCMT) and Dr. Sachin Dev (Vice Principal, BFCMT) congratulated and appreciated the whole business studies department for this wonderful initiative. On the whole, it was an interesting and very informative session.

3 Week Incubation Training Program on 04th December to 19th December, 2021

In order to help develop Start up ecosystem in the Agritech sector, Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship, Bathinda completed the three week incubation program from 04th December to 19-Dec-2021. In this contest Startups/innovations had come up with innovative solutions that use the latest advanced analytical technologies in the field of Agriculture and allied branches of agriculture. In total 05 teams participated in 3 week training program.

In the first week of program Dr. Manish Gupta told to applicants about persona and develop how might us statements after doing multi why. As well as given the task to applicants according to innovation.

In the second week of training program Prof. Manish Gupta gave deep insight into the topic on Intellectual property rights and revealed some interesting facts.

In the third week of training two experts were present. Prof. Sukhminder Singh discussed on Business Model Canvas and Mr. Pawan Kumar shared some business plan as well as discussed about development of startups/innovations.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp from 7th Dec, 2021 to 10th December, 2021

An entrepreneurship awareness camp sponsored under DST – NIMAT PROJECT was conducted for 3 working days from 7th Dec, 2021 to 10th Dec, 2021. This event was inaugurated on 7th December 2021 in the seminar block of H-block. After the inauguration of the event, the need for entrepreneurship was explained by Dr. Manish Gupta Dean R&I to all 83 students registered for the event. After 12:00 AM on the same day, the participating students were taken to the industrial visits at industrial focal point Bathinda.

The second day of this event i.e., 9th Dec, 2021 was started with the session of Dr. Manish Gupta on topic “How to Start a Startup”. In this session, Dr. Manish Gupta enlightens the various aspects of the methods for starting a startup with numerous of examples. An activity on “brainstorming” was also conducted during the session. During the next session Er. Kovid Sharma coordinator EAC talked about “Entrepreneurial Qualities”. He explained in depth about each of the qualities with appropriate examples and importance of the same for fulfilling the objective of start of startup.

At the end of the second day of this event Mr. Sunil Kumar, Proprietor, SRx pvt. Ltd, talked about various of experiences of successful entrepreneurs. Through this session, he tried to motivate student to move forward toward the entrepreneurship. .

On the third day of this event (10th Dec, 2021), the event was started with the lecture of Er. Kovid Sharma on who to write the report of a project. He explained the effective method of project writing through various of examples of good reports of projects. The next session for this day was taken by Dr. Manish Bansal, Dean Management, MIMIT, Malout, on marketing techniques. He told the importance of the marketing firstly and then describe various effective marketing techniques. The student’s feedback was also taken by the coordinator about the program. At the end of the event, valedictory function was conducted followed by tea and snacks.

Agri Innovation Contest 2021 on 16th November, 2021

In order to help develop Start up ecosystem in the Agritech sector, Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship, Bathinda in partnership with Start Up Cell Govt Of Punjab conducted Agri Innovation Contest 2021 on 16th November, 2021. In this contest Startups/innovations had come up with innovative solutions that use the latest advanced analytical technologies in the field of Agriculture and allied branches of agriculture. In total 15 teams participated in this event.

In this contest students were asked to present their innovations by presentation mode, covering Problem Trying to Solve; Briefly Describe Innovation/Solution; Market Analysis and Action Plan for Piloting your innovation and Financial Viability & Feasibility of the innovation. Due to overwhelming response there were more than 120 teams registered. In the first stage of screening Our Experts shortlisted 25 innovations.

On 16thNovember, 2021. The Judges for the 2nd round were Dr. PK Yadav Prof. NIFTEM, Bathinda, Mr. Sawaran Paul Singh, Founder, Hamara Farms, Sirsa, Mr. Karamveer, Founder Varhas Technologies, Bathinda and Dr Wineet Chawala, Head of the Department, Agriculture, BFC. All the judges were very cordial and listened to all the Business innovations very carefully. Team Micro Cocktailwon the 1st Prize of Rs. 25,000/-, Team Sankalpwon the 2nd Prize of Rs. 15,000/- and Rain Waste Harvesting team stood at 3rd position and got Rs. 10,000/-.

During the prize distribution and valedictory ceremony Mr. Deepinder Dhillon, Joint Director, Punjab Startup said that under the directions of the State Start Up Nodal Officer Shri C Sibin IAS , Start Up Punjab is taking great initiatives to support the development of Start up Ecosystem in Punjab. He further assured that the Start up Punjab cell is always there to support such initiatives by various incubators.

Mr. Dhillon also shared various initiatives undertaken by start Up Punjab and stated that Punjab needs to infuse emerging technologies like AI/ data Analyticeetc in the Agri sector. He further told participants to come up with innovative solutions that use the latest advanced analytical technologies to enable Modern technological driven Agriculture to do more with less. Orientation Program on Agri Innovations on 12th November, 2021

Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship organized an Orientation Program on Agri on 12 Nov, 2021 via online mode. The objective of this activity was to aware the participants regarding the innovations in the Agriculture sector and to motivate them towards entrepreneurship. More than 50 participants teams from different states and departments attended this session. Dr. Manish Gupta, Head, Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship welcomed all the guests. He further elaborated the schemes run in the BFSoE and told the importance and requirements of innovations in the agriculture sector.

Mr. Deepinder Dhillon, Joint Director, Startup Punjab was the chief guest of the event. Mr Dhillon briefed about the schemes and support rendered by Government of Punjab to create the Startup ecosystem in the region. He further elaborated the achievements of Startups from Punjab in agriculture field. He also promised all the support of Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Vijay Nadiminti, CEO Ag Hub, Hydrabad was the Key Note speaker in the event. Mr. Nadiminti shared his experience and told us about how to start any business from ideation stage and focused on various startups. He also told about the innovations being carried out in the field of agriculture. He said India is a agriculture oriented country, so it is our duty uplift the life of farmers. He said future technologies should be focused not only how to make the produce better but also focus should be on making the supply chain fast. He emphasized on the sensor based technologies must be used.

He gave the examples Pune-based molecular diagnostic company Mylab who received a regulatory nod for its COVID-19 diagnostic test kits which it plans to launch at a very affordable price. Further, he said, Qure.ai, a health-tech start-up, has developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered virtual care platform which can identify people at high-risk even before they reach the hospital emergency rooms. Engineers at NOCCA Robotics Private Limited, a start-up in Pune are also working on developing low-cost ventilators in a bid to help the country in its fight against coronavirus.

Seminar on "Entrepreneurship as an career" on 5th October, 2021

Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration of School of Entrepreneurship has successfully organised seminar on “Entrepreneurship as an career” on 5th October, 2021. This session was conducted by the Mr. Paramjeet Singh, Managing Director, Regional Centre of Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh at 10:00 am to 11:30 am and second session was conducted by the expert RajenParikh, Entrepreneur from Ahmedabad from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. About 100 B.Tech First & Second year students have participated in this seminar.

Mr Paramjeet Singh put emphasises on entrepreneurship. He said that Entrepreneurship in recent times has become an important area of study. It is considered to be a solution for creating wealth, generating employment and providing new goods and services. Developing the spirit of entrepreneurship among the young has become vital because the government cannot provide jobs for all the unemployed youth. The corporate sector will provide limited jobs only to the best and that too without any job security and lastly, very often it is difficult to find an ideal job. Entrepreneurship has very little to do with money. Dr. Manish Gupta Dean Research and Innovation, BFGI concluded the session and presented vote of thanks to experts and participants.

Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration of School of Entrepreneurship has successfully organised seminar on “Journey of an Entrepreneur” on 5th October, 2021. This session was conducted by the Mr. Rajen Parikh, Entrepreneur from Ahmedabad from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. More than 100 Students of B.Tech First & Second year have participated in this seminar. Mr.Rajen Parikh shared that there is lot of creativity among students and they have just need to make their ideas on paper so that a proper plan can be analysed and he can make it better too. It’s better if a student has some industry experience. He shared his own journey as Entrepreneur. He added you should plan for long run benefits not for the short term. He put the emphases that always plan and execute to satisfy the customers. Never be demotivated by the small falls. As it’s a journey of life with ups and down. How to start a startup? on 15th Sept, 2021

A Session on "How to start a startup?" was organized at Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology, Bathinda on 15th Sept, 2021 for the new entrants in engineering and management. Dr. Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Innovation, BFGI was the keynote speaker of this session. Dr. Manish Gupta firstly wished all the inspiring engineers a very Happy Engineer’s Day.

He started by discussing the competition among students about job opportunities. He further engaged the audience by asking a simple question if they want to be job seeker or job provider. He then listed the benefits of being a job provider. He said that the person will be self-boss, will provide jobs to other people, bring new solutions and innovations to society, earn money and take the family name forward. He described the matrix of Employee, Self-Employed, Business Owner and Investor. He briefed the students that Employee is the person who has a job, Self-Employed is the person who owns a job, Business Owner is the person who owns a system and Investor is the person who makes money by investing in other businesses. He told that Entrepreneurs fall under the category of Business Owners and Investors.

He further added that India is among the top 5 countries in the world in terms of startups. 40% startups are germinated in the colleges. For example: Flipkart, Facebook, Byju’s, OLA, Zomato, MakeMyTrip. He also informed that startups with valuation 1 billion dollar are termed as unicorn startups and presently, India has 63 unicorns that are not more than 10 years old. He mentioned the statistics for the same that India produced 11 unicorns in 2018, 9 in 2019, 10 in 2020 and 26 in 2021.

Dr. Gupta spoke about some famous startups like FluxGen Sustainable Technologies that saves 20,000 liters of water daily, Dozee which is similar to ICU beds, Shape Crunch, Intello Labs, Droom which is a unicorn and many more. He also illustrated the 4 important stages for starting a startup namely Idea Validation, Seed Funding, Growth Stage and Scale-up Stage.

He talked about the entrepreneurship opportunities in Information Technology and Database Security. Some of the key areas are Information Technology and Software, Health Related Research and Development and Management & Security. He further showed the infrastructure slides of IPR Cell and listed the upcoming technologies like AI, IoT, Quantum Computing, Clean Meat, 3D Printing, Brain Neurons, etc. At last, he clarified the doubts of the students by having a question and answer round. Overall, it was an exciting session.

Logo Design Competition (15th November, 2020)

Baba Farid Group of Institutions organised the Logo Design completion in the month of November, 2020. This competition was opened for the students of BFGI, in which participant has to design a logo for the School of Entrepreneurship. The theme of logo was to conceptualize and designate such that it evokes the Vision/Mission of the BFGI, Objectives of School of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship Development, excellence in research and education, Technology Development. Last date for Submission of design was kept 15th November 2020.

In total 25 logo designs were received. Entries were judged on the bases of elements of creativity, originality, composition, simplicity, artistic merit and visual impact. A committee of 5 faculty members was formed in the headship of Sh. B.D. Sharma, Deputy Director, BFGI to evaluate the received Logo Designs.

A valedictory session was organized on 17th December, 2020 to announce the winners. Sh. B.D. Sharma, Deputy Director, BFGI was the chief guest of the event. During his speech he said that all the Logo received were of good quality but due to protocol we have to select 3 winners. He also discussed the nitty-gritty involved in the Logo Design and motivated all the participants. In the end Dr Manish Gupta, Dean, Research and Innovation read the report and declared the results and send the online certificates to all the participants. In this competition, 1st winner was bagged by Mr Mandeep Singh, 2nd Position by Mr Dheeraj Chouhan and 3rd position by Mr Shivam Nagpal. In this competition 1st Prize winner was bestowed with Rs. 3,000/-, Runner up with Rs. 2,000/-, 2nd Runner up with Rs. 1,000/- .

Entrepreneurship Journey and Lessons (08th November, 2020)

BFGI’s School of Entrepreneurship organised the online 1-day session on Entrepreneurship Journey and Lessons on 08th November, 2020. The resource person on this day was Mr Ashutosh Burnwal, Founder of Buddy4Study. Buddy4Study is Startup in the sector of education and India’s largest scholarship listing portal, Buddy4Study helps more than 1 million students by connecting the right scholarships with the right students. Since 2011, Buddy4Study is endeavouring to bridge the gap between scholarship providers and scholarship seekers. It is the only platform in the country that allows both seekers and scholarship providers to access scholarship information across the globe.

While sharing his journey Ashutosh Burnwal said he comes from a lower middle-class family of six, with four brothers. In his house, only one of the sibling education was afforded in a reputed private school. Ashutosh said as he was the meritorious one among the siblings so he was selected to study from a private school. Aware of all the sacrifices and troubles his family went through, he decided to do something for those talented kids who sit back due to financial crunches and other family problems. Thus, he started Buddy4study, a scholarship web portal to inform people about inexpensive or free educational opportunities.

Mr Burnwel said his life was set and smooth due to good education throughout- from best schooling and colleges, to working with Fortune Global top 10 companies. He said the turning point was when during studying the MBA I discovered the NTSE scholarship from a batch-mate which he was availing since from grade eleventh and twelfth. Being a good student he never know about such scholarship and then he I started digging deeper into the ‘world of scholarships’. Since information on scholarships is not very easily available, he used to read 17 newspapers in his college library from 2 am to 6 am to go through each and every such advertisement column. And finally after six months, Buddy4study was launched in October 2011 with information on 60 scholarship programmes. The major gap he found that school going students from metro cities were not aware about the scholarships

Mr Burnwel proudly said that now company is constantly evolving and is shifting from scholarship awareness platform to scholarship application support platform by developing Scholarship Management Panel (SMP) for schools, colleges, foundations, tuition centres to setup a system for their students. He said SMP helps schools and colleges know about eligible students and and students know about scholarship programmes.

He said now Buddy4study distributes 85,000 scholarships to 35 lac students with 95 crore scholarship funds. He said India is country of opportunity there are many problems to solve we have to just identify it solve it. He emphasised on the decentralisation and the empathy to the customer culture is the future. With the words “Dream Big and Serve Good The World is one Family” he ended his speech.

Ashutosh Burnwel started his lecture by correlating the Startup journey with life line and said all the Startups have a soul which needs to be nurtured. On Startup Valuation he further said that it is all about the story telling rather how finances. There are two types of businesses Technology driven firms and Non-technical firms. But he said the drivers of investment and valuation are Management Team, Market fit, Custom Acquisition Cost (CAC), Partnership, Intellectual Property. These all factors in cohort make your business run and moreover are the guaranty for good valuation. One has to focus on the big picture and more important is the belief on himself and his team.

Ashutosh then explained the various methods used by Venture Capitalists such as Berkus Method, Scorecard Method, Venture Capital Method, DCF, Comparable Method and First Chicago method. He said the most commonly used method among these is Scorecard Method. The major attributes of these all methods are Idea, Prototype, Management, Relation, Sales. In the end he said for an entrepreneur, your business is your baby. There’s a moment when your baby is a newborn and you have been all alone feeding him and nurturing him until he has grown to a stage where you can now present him to the entire world. For babies, this is known as the end of the incubation and for businesses, it is an investor’s pitch.

Recruiting Early Employees and Future Needs of Startup (31st October, 2020)

BFGI’s School of Entrepreneurship organised the online 1-day session on Recruiting Early Employees and Future Needs of Startup on 31st October, 2020. The resource person on this day was Mr Ajay Godara. He is Founder and CEO, ENOVATE Skill established at Chandigarh. ENOVATE Skill provide the hand holding to Schools and Engineering College for establishing Laboratory in their campuses, where student could explore their ideas, creativity, and learning by doing. They also provide research support in Robotics, Renewable Energy, Green Vehicle Technology, Automation, Internship, Consultancy for industry and Institution. Mr Godara is with the company from the Ideation Stage.

Mr Ajay Godara started his lecture by telling with his experience that First One Year is the Most Important for any company. This first year is full of Roller and Coaster ride where founder gets the experience and taste of all the aspects required for company establishment and development. He said employees recruitment is the 2nd stage when founders are confident that they can now run the business usually only then they start the recruitment. The First phase is scalability, revenue generation and Fund Raising for any company, hiring comes next to it. He also said that one can start hiring with a lower level and slowly one can go for bigger level. No need to employ huge employees in one go.

He further said the entrepreneur should be like horse who is active and can run. Startup is not the job where one sits in the office and pass the order, but he has to be involved in each and every aspect of it. In the starting time Founder handles all the developments of Startup Marketing to Product Development to R&D and distribution. Most importantly he should be Self Driven and must have the capabilities to take the decisions, manage all the working and forsee the upcoming problems.

Mr Godara said there are 2 ways be the winner as a Startup Founder, one is lot of struggle and other is Mentorship that is hand holding by the experts. According to him mentorship is most important. Informing all he said as per Government of India rules there is no implication of Labour Law for the Startup for first 5 years. He also elaborated and displayed the Punjab Startup India Portal & Startup India Portal.

Mr Godara said Hiring talented individuals is critical to an organization’s success. But in order to hire the most talented, you must first recruit them. Recruiting employees can be a challenging task. Even in a recession, it can be difficult to fill certain types of jobs,1 so recruiters have to make important decisions, including whom to target, what message to convey and how to staff recruitment efforts. If not done correctly, an organization’s recruitment efforts can produce job applicants who are unqualified, who lack diversity or who may decline job offers. These same applicants may be prone to turnover if hired. A poorly designed recruitment process can miss attractive job candidates—including those who work for competitors-because they never find out that a position is open.

Business Model Canvas (18th October, 2020)

Mr Vijay Nadimiti, Chief Operating Officer, a-Idea, Incubation Centre located at Hydrabad was the expert of second session of the 4th day of the program. He spoke about the Business Model Canvas and Pitch Presentation. He lauded the benefits of all the 9 points of Business Model Canvas. He said important thing is that any Startup when going to market BMC is very important and all the 9 elements should be matched. BMC helps in introspection and validation of the product. Vijay Nadimiti started his lecture from the need of Business Model Canvas, he said BMC provides a quick overview of the business model and moreover the beauty of BMC is that all the nine points are interrelated and aligned. Business Model Canvas makes it easier to refer to and understand by anyone.

Mr Vijay said there are nine building blocks in the business model canvas and they are customer value proposition, customer segments, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key partners, key activities, and cost structure. Simplifying all the points the 9 points he categorised all into 3 categories and named it 4+3+2 formula. 1st category relates to customer, 2nd to Operations and 3rd to Finance. He elaborated all points with examples and also gave the demo how to prepare the same. He said Once you have completed your business model canvas, you can share it with your organization and stakeholders and get their feedback as well. The business model canvas is a living document, therefore after completing it you need to revisit and ensure that it is relevant, updated and accurate.

In the end he took the questions from the participants. He tried to give the answer to all questions and all the participants were satisfied with the content delivered by Vijay. Dr Manish Gupta proposed the Vote of Thanks and said these type of technical topics not only make the students aware but also help in knowing the advancements in the Startup culture.

Certificate Course on Developing a Startup (24th September, 2020)

5-Day Entrepreneurship Development Program PASSION

5-Day online program on Entrepreneurship with the name PASSION was organized by the School of Entrepreneurship Cell, Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Deon, Bathinda from 09-13 July, 2020. Around150 students and faculty members enrolled in the program.

Paramjit Singh, Director – Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), inaugurated the online program on Entrepreneurship. It is In the Inaugural session, Paramjit Singh, Chief Guest for the program shared his views on how to manage changes, converting challenges into opportunities and the govt. initiatives.

Mr Singh said with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, India faced the greatest socio-economic shock in a generation, coming at a time of acute inequality, ecological fragility, and growing distrust within and amongst societies. While dwelling on statistics he revealed that about 63.4 million units distributed throughout the nation, MSMEs contribute around 6.11 percent of GDP and 24.63 per cent of services. They contribute about 40 per cent of India’s total exports. He further addressed the participants by acquainting them with the new definition of MSME from Rs. 25 Lakh to Rs. 1 Crore, its accomplishments. He has also put forward details of various government schemes including PMEGP 1, PMEGP 2, STAND UP INDIA, MAKE IN INDIA, SKILL INDIA, MUDRA, SAMPADA, and Cluster Development of MSME and KVIC. Big response and appreciation were received from the participants.

On the 2nd Day, Dr Manish Gupta, Dean, Research and Innovation delivered the lecture on How to Build Startup. The entrepreneur is an individual but Startup could be any registered entity whose establishment is not more than 10 years, its turnover should be less than 100 crores and should be Innovative in Nature. Dr Gupta said during this crisis time when COVID-19 pandemic is spread all over and all the country is in Lockdown, he told the budding entrepreneurs to not lose the faith in their respective Ideas but to consider and innovate the Plan-B. Now while they are at home, it is the best time when one can build his Business Plan and make Pitch Deck Presentation. He also put the light on different Stages of Funding such as SEED Funding, Angel Investor Funding, Venture Capitalist and IPO (Initial Public Offering)

In the 3rd Day Prabir is the Founder for SAATRA Capital Advisor delivered the talk. He is working with start-ups and Incubators, he has 20 years of prior experience in Investment Banking. He advised to budding entrepreneurs that they should go through complete value chain before going for the Startup. It is better to have technology intervention like Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence etc in all type of startups. Mr Mishra said that in the prevailing scenario Food Startups are valued Startups and attract VCs and all other fund mangers. He also told about the Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statement and Cash Flow.

On the 4th Day there were 2 sessions. First session was taken up by the Mr KS Bhatia, Founder and CEO of Pumpkart. By venturing into a startup with Pumpkart, he brought under one roof, over 150 water pumps brands. He said Across the world it’s a 100 per cent unorganized sector where consumers buy through shopkeepers or plumbers. He proudly informed all that Google CEO Sundar Pichai lauded the start-up, Pumpkart, at his ‘Digital India’ speech before PM Modi in the US last year. While motivating students he said “No Dream is Small and Nothing is Impossible”. Talking about the topic “New Trends in E-Commerce” he said E-Commerce will flourish in coming days. 25% of business is now shifting from offline to online. He said next decade will see the Hyperlocal E-Commerce. He also discussed the vision of his company Pumpkart how it is going to be Hyperlocal.

Pitch should cover all the aspects such as Idea, Business Model, USP, Why one should Invest in Startup, Marketing Strategy etc. First 2 min are very crucial and one have to tell the uniqueness in Startup and what technology is being used.

On the last day Dr Punit Dwivedi, Professor and Director at Modern Group of Institutions, Indore delivered the talk on “Business Idea Validation”. He said it are the customers, Mentors, society and market who validate the business idea. He elaborated the four point formula for the idea validation: Goal behind the Idea; Hypothesis & Market Research; Experimentation and Revise. He insisted that never to take the feedback from family and loved ones. He told to frame the simple questions and always to take face-to-face feedback.

In the end Dr Manish Gupta, Dean (R&I) and Head, School of Entrepreneurship proposed the vote of thanks and read the report of all the 5-Days of the Entrepreneurship Development Program titled PASSION. He thanked all the speakers and participants. He told that it was very satisfactory while organizing the event. He also thanked the Chairman BFGI Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal for giving the opportunity and motivating to organize such type of events.

Challenges and Opportunities for Entrepreneurs Post Covid-19

Even as the fight with COVID-19 continues, there is a conversation to cope up with the situations post-pandemic. While it is only natural to expect a tough future in terms of business after the COVID-19 lockdown, it is not an impossibly difficult situation to tide over. So to give insight to budding entrepreneurs School of Entrepreneurship of Baba Farid Group of Institutions Bathinda organized the webinar through Microsoft Teams on 22nd April 2020 and the topic of this online lecture was Challenges and Opportunities for Entrepreneurs Post Covid19. The expert on this event was Dr Manish Bansal, Professor of Management cum Dean (Entrepreneurship Development and Alumni Affairs) at Malout Institute of Management & Information Technology (MIMIT), Malout, Punjab.

Dr Bansal told that COVID-19 has caused extreme disruption socially and economically but as per the reports, small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs have come out to be one the most vulnerable groups that will be directly and most affected. The problems in the supply chain are turning out to be a big challenge for startups to communicate with vendors in the red zone areas and this problem will be faced within a wide range of sectors, such as healthcare and technology.

He further told that ability to cope with uncertainty makes a successful entrepreneur. So he told not to lose hope and look the way forward and plan for the situations post-Covid-19. He said at this time of lockdown and most challenging situation some Startups have still managed to raise the funds. So he told all not to lose hope as the coming days after the Covid-19 will be very lucrative for all type of Startups.

Further, he told that there is always the opportunity during a difficult time. Startup related to Edutech, healthcare, Artificial Intelligence & Business Applications will flourish in the future. Moreover, new innovations are waiting at the doorsteps of challenging entrepreneurs specifically related to Over The Top (OTT) services, Cloud Kitchen, and Last-Mile Delivery Startups. How to Build a Startup: Dos and Don’ts

The spread of COVID-19 is affecting hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. In this scenario, BFGI is not only providing education to the students through online mode but also giving exposure to them through the webinars. BFGI through its School of Entrepreneurship organized the online Guest Lecture on How to Build a Startup: Dos and Don’ts on 17th April 2020. The speaker at this event was Mr. Vijay Nadiminti. Vijay is Chief Operating Officer at a-Idea Incubation Centre established at NAARM, Hyderabad.

He started his lecture by introducing a-Idea Incubation Centre and then he told the students and faculty that there is a big difference between entrepreneur and Startup. The entrepreneur is an individual but Startup could be any registered entity whose establishment is not more than 10 years, its turnover should be less than 100 crores and should be Innovative in Nature. Further, he said While opening the entity one should have the answer of three questions: Where to go?; What to do?; and How to Do?

During this crisis time when COVID-19 pandemic is spread all over and all the country is in Lockdown, he told the budding entrepreneurs to not lose the faith in their respective Ideas but to consider and innovate the Plan-B. Now while they are at home, it is the best time when one can build his Business Plan and make Pitch Deck Presentation. He also advised listening to the webinars organized by many agencies such as Startup India, ASSOCHAM, FICCI, CII, etc. Motivating the students he said Every Crisis Leads to Greater Opportunity. He said it is only due to innovation and Startup culture in India we can fight the COVID-19 aggressively and effectively as some health tech companies have already started deploying solutions globally. He gave the examples Pune-based molecular diagnostic company Mylab who received a regulatory nod for its COVID-19 diagnostic test kits which it plans to launch at a very affordable price. Further, he said, Qure.ai, a health-tech start-up, has developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered virtual care platform which can identify people at high-risk even before they reach the hospital emergency rooms. Engineers at NOCCA Robotics Private Limited, a start-up in Pune are also working on developing low-cost ventilators in a bid to help the country in its fight against coronavirus.

Path Toward Entrepreneurship (1st December, 2020)

Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology organised the online session on Path Towards Entrepreneurship on 1st December, 2020. The expert on this day was Dr Rajendra Parshad Joshi, Founder and CEO of RI Instruments and Innovation India and RI Nanotech India. He is also Managing Director of RINZTECH NZ LTD New Zealand. Er Sunil Nagpal while introducing the guest said that the companies run by Dr Joshi are engaged in developing / designing upper end research instruments and smart Materials is India and New Zealand.. Few of their Indian designed instruments, like RAMAN, RIUS And RIMS ( modular Raman Spectrometer and work station ) spectrometers are appreciated by scientific community and widely accepted across the globe.

Dr Joshi during his interaction emphasised on need based research and the research which creates the Intellectual Property and ultimately the IP creates Startup. He from his experience shared with students how a project can be converted into the valuable product which no one never knows could help the most deprived class of the Nation. He said developing a product and then IP from it creates the ecosystem of innovation in the campus which is finally the most important part of education. He said to create a innovation one have to put his thought, skill and energy which will take to upper level as in the atom. He also cautioned the students that 80% of patents from institute are just hanging and no one is using them. Dr Joshi said if one cannot make money from his/her Patent then it is waste of time, moreover he said if innovator can’t make the things simple for the society from his knowledge and invention then he/she do not know much about his invention.

While giving answers to the questions of students he told that always tell truth to the supervisor/teacher and one should be technically sound. In the end he said never go behind the jobs and be a job creator through the innovation and with good quality of products. He also extended his hand to collaborate with Baba Farid Group of Institutions for funding the good quality projects which could be converted into entrepreneurial venture.

Design Thinking Workshop

Students and teachers of all the constituent colleges of Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda participated in a Design Thinking Workshop organised by School of Entrepreneurship. Resource person, Dr Manish Gupta elaborated on the importance of Design and its applications in every field. Dr Gupta while starting the workshop said the requirements of the consumer are changing rapidly and they are now looking at not a product or service in isolation, but to the entire experience as a whole. He said Design thinking could play a key role in helping companies identify the complex latent needs of consumers. It can also help design solutions to deliver experiences that can help them traverse the journey from customer satisfaction to customer advocacy.

Dr Gupta split this design thinking process is into four steps, that are Empathy, Analysis, Solve and Test. He said Design Thinking is started with the human, so people understanding people is part and parcel of our first step and how do I find out what is going on in another human being, not in myself, but in some other human being is through the process of empathy. Once you know what people are going through, you find out, figure it out, you empathise, you feel it, you understand it then do not stop there, we use the step of problem analysis, the stage of problem we and our method is to Analyse and figure it out. So in analysis stage we actually figure out what is going on underneath why is the customer going through this, then after that we move on to the third stage, which is, now that we figured out what is the problem we have to solve, we have to fix it, we have to think of ways to mitigate it, reduce it, whatever could be the situation, so this involves the process of creating something, it could be creating absolutely new stuff or taking, you know, existing stuff and putting it all together in a sort of novel combinations, so that the problem that we are addressed is Solved. The last and final the most important according to me is to put it all together, make a tight package of it and call it a concept, make it a concept now you have, it is not enough if you think of it, and you keep it in with you, but actually give it to somebody and Test it.

The workshop focused on change in the thought process and improved the ability of the faculty members to solve the problem design process. The group of Startups was made for well execution of an activity in which they were supposed to design an event as per their idea in the most logical and innovative manner, in the specified time, using the material provided to them that is through sticky notes. Each group was then allowed to present their design and explain the logistics and its usefulness while the other teams were allowed to interject. The activity was enjoyed by the students thoroughly and they were motivated to develop innovative strategies based on the design principles. The students also got to know about the career opportunities in the field of design thinking. It was an enriching and informative experience wherein students interacted and shared ideas about promoting innovation.

Guest Lecture on Marketing Strategy

An interactive session was organized on "Marketing Strategies” on 4th November, 2019 for the budding entrepreneurs. School of Entrepreneurship of Baba Farid Group of Institutions organized Guest Lecture by Mr Bhaskar Angaria, Assistant Professor, Baba Farid College of Management and Technology, Bathinda.

He has a vast experience of more than a decade of industry and academia. In the industry he had handled Sales and Customer Manager and Category Head. He has been keenly involved in innovation Project Management, running marketing of a portfolio of brands to activate them and deliver P&L targets on the brands, handling Media to deliver reach in Indian consumers.

The session started with the brief introduction of sale and marketing as a job profile. He shared many inside stories which helped students to learn the facts.

He explained to the students that how to break the clutter i.e. Advertising by keeping in mind three major things, which are:

• Do the unexpected like Patanjali
• Do it first, embet in popular culture like Lakme
• Building brand memory structure like Dove

He discussed with students about the concept of “build asset on your brand” by logos, music, icons, and never let them go, as they help customers to remember your products.

Mr. Angaria also discussed the basics of Digital Marketing. The expert delivered in-depth concepts on developing online strategies, online user behaviour, and principles of web design, social media marketing and online advertising with effective promotions. Some of the points discussed related to digital marketing are listed below:

• Develop successful written, visual, and digital communication skills essential for a career in digital marketing including social media marketing.
• Develop a plan for marketing a product of business online.
• Integrate social media tools into a marketing communications strategy.
• Use creativity and knowledge of digital media to develop effective social media posts for a variety of platforms

Three days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (3-5 October, 2019)

Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology in collaboration with School of Entrepreneurship, organised three days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) from 03-05 October, 2019. This is the 2nd camp oganized at BFGI Campus in the last 15 days which is sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India with aim of bulding the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country from the grass root level. Students of engineering stream participated in this camp with full zeal and enthusiasm.

First day resource person for the 1st session was Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sidhu from Simbacart online services pvt. Ltd. gave insights of her entrepreneurial journey. Ms. Sidhu started Simbacart with an aim to uplift the rural in terms of skill development and generating employment. She encouraged the students to follow their passion with honesty and told tha anybody can reach the skies with determination and perseverance.

Mr P.K. Bhandari is a successful entrepreneur of Malwa region. He shared his journey and struggles to motivate students to become an entrepreneur. Motivating students Mr. Bhandari in his lecture described that formal education only provide us living but self education make our fortune. He told the value of bouncing back in life. He suggested developing the habit to maintaining diary in which focus should be to create an idea and working towards it. One should practice achieving short term goals to achieve the final goal in life. Further Mr Bhandari sharing his experience said Entrepreneurship has very little to do with money. It is instead an attitude and a way of thinking. It goes beyond simply starting a company. In other words not all people who start their own organizations can necessarily be categorized as entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs challenge assumptions, recognize opportunities in periods of change, reveal patterns where others see chaos and mobilize limited resource to achieve the objective.

In the third Day of the Camp, Dr Manish Bansal, Dean Entrepreneurship Development, MIMIT motivated the students and told that failure is part of entrepreneurship. He discussed about the Marketing strategy for the new Startup and told about the various schemes opened by the Government such as Startup India, Standup India, Make in India etc. He also told about the role of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists to run the Startup.

On the last day of the event there was an industrial visit to Poly Pipes, Aggarwal Glass Works and The students attended the camp with full zeal and enthusiasm. Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal appreciated the efforts of Industry-Interactive Entrepreneurship Cell for creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus and ensured full support to the IIEC in future.

Faculty Development Program (Entrepreneurship As a Career)

The One Day Faculty Development Program on Entrepreneurship organized by School of Entrepreneurship of Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda was very significant, wherein training was provided exhaustively on the different aspects of entrepreneurship to faculty was provided to know for developing the students towards entrepreneurs. The FDP included training session by Ms Mandeep Kaur Tangra, Co-Founder, SimbaQuartz Online Services Pvt. Ltd. She emphasized how the teaching faculty to inculcate various support services required for developing entrepreneurial traits in the students. Ms Tangra discussed about the various support services such as creativity, project writing, financial planning, design and development of products, facilities available in state and central government for seeking financial support, technical support offered by different departments of government, etc.

Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sidhu gave insights of her entrepreneurial journey. She told that they started Simbacart with an aim to uplift the rural in terms of skill development and generating employment. She encouraged the students to follow their passion with honesty and told tha anybody can reach the skies with determination and perseverance. Entrepreneurship was presented in a broader sense as a way of thinking and acting leading to wealth creation in a chosen career path. Ms Mandeep Kaur gave some examples of business, corporate and social entrepreneurs like Ratan Tata, K.V.Kamat, Narayan murthy etc so as to make faculty aware about the entrepreneurial manifestations in different fields. The participants were also taken through the way the term “Entrepreneurship’ is evolving over the years.

Mr Vishal Pandey, Assitant Manager at SimbaQuartz also accompanied Ms Mandeep Kaur. He told about the working of SimbaQuartz.

The programme was started with the welcome address of Dr Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Development. He briefed the participants about the structure, design of the programme and spelt out the expectations of the organizers from the participants. By the permission of dignitaries of the programme inaugural function was concluded and FDP was started as per schedule

In the end Dr Manish Goel, Principal, Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology proposed the Vote of Thanks and motivated faculty to organize more such activities not only for students but also for the Teaching Faculty.

Seminar on Initiatives by NABARD for Farmers, Entrepreneurs and Science & Technology

Baba Farid College Bathinda organized the one day Seminar on the various initiatives taken by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) titled Initiatives by NABARD for Farmers, Entrepreneurs and Science & Technology on 5th August, 2019. The Chief Guest on this day was Shri JPS Bindra, Chief General Manager (CGM) NABARD, Punjab. While introducing the Shri Bindra, Dr Manish Gupta, Dean, Research and Innovation told that Shri Bindra has worked in various capacities in Punjab & Haryana, Rajasthan & Uttrakhand and Head Office of NABARD Mumbai. He is now CGM in-charge of Punjab and UT of Chandigarh. He has wide experience in production & investment credit, credit planning, risk management, financial inclusion, mirco-credit, farm sector, resource mobilization, climate change, producers organization, infrastructure development etc.

While addressing the Faculty and students Shri Bindra Ji told that NABARD is the apex development financial institution catering to agriculture and rural development has been providing credit support for infrastructure development, capital formation in rural areas, short term agriculture loans as also grant support under financial inclusion, farmers/ artisans collectives viz Farmers Producers Organisations, SHGs, JLGs etc.

During the session faculty members also presented the projects which were already going on in the college. Budding entrepreneurs also pitched up there Business Ideas. Mr Amit, Garg, Distric Development Manager of Bathinda was also present in this Seminar. He ensured the all support of NABARD to Baba Farid College for the up-liftment of the farmers of the area. Dr Manish Bansal, Vice Principal, Baba Farid College, Bathinda also interacted with the faculty and students and told them to take the best use of the various schemes of NABARD. Dr Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Innovation proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Startup India Punjab Yatra-Van

Aiming to impact 5000+ entrepreneurs through 19 Van Stops & 8 Boot Camps, ‘Startup Yatra’ reached Bathinda. The yatra is aimed at spreading awareness of startup ecosystem, motivating the youth, creating self-employment, upgrading the skills of entrepreneurs and providing them support to set up their units under the professional guidance.

The Startup India Punjab Yatra Van, which is being organised by the Punjab Government in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, stopped at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda on 22 January, 2019. More than 50 students of constituent colleges of Baba Farid Group of Institutions participated in this event.

Startup India Yatra van traveled to various cities of Punjab with objectives of Spreading awareness about Startup India and the Policies & Schemes of the Punjab Government for Startups. It is worth mentioning that several colleges from Punjab were identified with respect to each destination.

GZSCCET Director Dr Savina Bansal, Students Welfare dean Dr RK Bansal, Pharmacy dean Dr Ashish Baldi, Academics (dean) Dr JS Tiwana, MRSPTU Director (Training and Placement) Harjot Singh Sidhu along with heads of departments and students received the yatra van on the campus premises.

More than 100 entrepreneurs registered themselves at GZSCCET for attending the boot camp (Idea Pitching Competition) on January 22 at Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda. The camp will present the government’s initiative to promote startups, ideation workshop, idea pitching sessions and train the trainers workshop.

The yatra encouraged the youth to nurture the new startup ideas and provided a platform to handhold budding entrepreneurs.

Seminar by Mr Rohit Dabra

Mr Rohit Dabra visited Baba Farid Group of Institution Punjab and shared his professional journey with students and encouraged them to become job creators and develop jobs for the society. Mr Rohit Dabra is CEO of Tech-Syesto and Q-Services. He told that my own personal experience, however, have shown that only a small percentage of founder-CEOs have the skills and experience needed to ensure company growth and shareholder value beyond a startup’s early stage. He motivated the students to dream big and think out of the box and most important have faith in yourselves. After taking a session Mr Dabra interacted one-to-one with Startups and listened their ideas. He provided his valuable inputs to all the early stage Startups and listened the problems they were facing during their entrepreneurial journey.

Workshop on Startup Technologies for Business Development

Mr Ashish, Trainer, Mechanical Department, BFCET took the Workshop of students involved with BFGI E-CELL. Title of the talk was 'Startup Technologies for Business Development' and delivered on 2nd November, 2019. In this session Mr Ashish discussed about the various technologies, by using these technologies, the Startups can showcase thier products/services assertively and can outreach to the potential customers in better and effective way.

He said If you’re an entrepreneur or want to be Entrepreneur, you should, use the popular tools like Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and updated versions of new favorites such as Publisher. Having a cloud-based platform like Office 365 at your disposal allows you to access documents and data on the go, and makes working remotely a breeze. Keeping overhead to a minimum when trying to get a new venture off of the ground allows you to do more with your available resources, and when you can collaborate just as easily with team members from your home office as you can face to face in a traditional office setting, you can do just that.

He explained the participant’s identification of good project which can be patent and can start up their own industries. He clearly discussed the opportunities for the budding entrepreneur. He also explained about the technical feasibility, economic feasibility, marketing feasibility of the new innovated product, methodologies for the participants. He also gave the details about Technology assistance from R&D labs & other institutions and Promotion & Support to Technology Development Schemes of DST & other agencies including Venture Capital Fund. He clearly emphasized on the research of new product. He clearly emphasized the faculties utilized the time for the research and come up with new innovative ideas, which make the bridge for the entrepreneurship.

He clearly explained about the importance of design as customer perceptive. How the design of new product. On what parameter the design engineering as to be worked in the innovating the new design. These kind of design aspect gives a clear cut in innovating the new kind of design, which makes the customer to attract. Once customer accepted the design. Then it can be send to the production. He clearly explained the about the customer design perceptive instead of proprietor design aspects. The company growth and development is completely depends upon the design of the new innovative ideas and then to the product.

He have given the an overview of the Intellectual Property Rights Spectrum: clearly explained about what are the product which can be patent. He conveys the clear information about the procedure of filling the patent.

DST sponsored Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp successfully organized at BFGI (25-27 September 2019)

Baba Farid College, in collaboration with Industry-Interactive Entrepreneurship Cell, BFGI organized three days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC). This Camp is sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and supported by Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad to build the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country from the grass-root level. As many as 90 students of various trades participated in this camp with full zeal and enthusiasm.

The first day of camp has various sessions conducted based on the themes of Need for Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship as a career option and Entrepreneurial Qualities respectively. The camp started with the inaugural ceremony where Mr. Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, Regional Centre of Entrepreneurship Development, Chandigarh who urged the students to opt for entrepreneurship, rather than running after jobs and motivated the students to pursue their ideas and follow the path of entrepreneurship. Er T.S. Singla, Managing Director, Polypipe interacted with students and told his journey as an entrepreneur. Students also got the opportunity to losten Er Pardeep Agarwal, Business Head, JAYEE Industries who share his experiences and extended his full support for students of BFGI.

On the 2nd day of Camp, Mr. Ashish Bansal, Branch Manager from Punjab & Sind Bank, Goniana Branch talked about various schemes offered by Banks & Govt. to startups and entrepreneurs such as Startup India, Standup India, MUDRA and Make in India, etc.. He also shared the different subsidy schemes of the Banks for the Entrepreneurs. Further he told the students about documents and all other ancillaries required for Bank Financing. Dr. Manish Bansal, Professor MIMIT, Malout, Punjab gave the tips to students on Marketing Stratergy and research before establishing the Startup venture.

Students were allowed to visit the JAYBEE Industries, Bathinda and Herbal Trends, Gidarbaha. Students during the visit got the opportunity to interact with the Mr Pardeep Managing Director of Herbal Trends as well as Er Pardeep Agarwal, Business Head, JAYEE Industries.

Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI expressed the deep sense of gratitude to DST, Govt. of India for sanctioning the EAC and appreciated the efforts of faculty of BFC for creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus and ensured full support in future. Dr Dhaliwal added that he was confident that students had brilliant ideas, but it was the fear that holds them back. He said that this fear creeps from the very fact that as starters one lacks knowledge of how to get start. He told that this camp aims at creating awareness among students about opening new Startups along with their education.

iCAN-Ideation Contest (12th & 13th November, 2018)

Mr Ajay Godara, founder CEO of ENOVATE SKILL, Er Amardev, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh and Mr Ashish Bansal, Manage, Punjab and Sind Bank, Goniana Mandi, Bathinda, Er Gurvinder Singh, Head School of Skill Development, BFGI, Dr Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Development. In order to bring fresh ideas to the fore, Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda started its annual event, iCAN which was organized on 12th & 13th November, 2018. In this event Startups/Students had come up with innovative solutions that use the latest advanced analytical technologies to improve efficiencies and enable a business to achieve more in less time. In total more than 50 teams participated in this event.

In this event students were asked to give their Business Idea on simple page (handwritten or Typed) covering Problem Trying to Solve; Briefly Describe Business Idea/Solution; Market Analysis and Action Plan for Piloting your Idea and Financial Viability & Feasibility of the Idea. Due to overwhelming response two stage screening. In the first stage screening Er Gurvinder Singh, Head School of Skill Development, BFGI and Dr Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Development were the judges. First round was held on 12th November, 2018. All teams pitched their ideas and 20 teams were shortlisted, for the next round.

The last round was held on 13th November, 2018. The Judges for the 2nd round were Mr Ajay Godara, founder CEO of ENOVATE SKILL, Er Amardev, Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh and Mr Ashish Bansal, Manage, Punjab and Sind Bank, Goniana Mandi, Bathinda. All the judges were very cordial and listened to all the Business Ideas very carefully. Mr Pawan Kumar and Mr Yogesh from Android Labs won the 1st Prize of 5,000/- and Mr Roopvir Singh, Ms Steffi Garg and Mr Anoop won the 2nd Prize of 3,000/-. Android Labs is a Startup which provides the service to fabricate the software in the Android Mobile phones. Whereas 2nd prize winners idea was relate to Solar Cars.

During the day long activity Mr Ajay Godara interacted with the students and told how to pitch their Ideas and told the importance of Team in developing the Startup. During the prize distribution ceremony Er Amardev said that this type of activities bring some refined talent to the forefront and has helped the world discover visionaries from the STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and business fields. Mr Ashish Bansal during his concluding remarks said The iCAN Ideation Challenge is testimony to the fact that every now and then a young mind is stretched by a new thought, and it never shrinks back to its former dimensions. We are keen on nurturing the future idea, for a better tomorrow.”

Mr Harpal Singh Ex-Director, District Employment Exchange, Bathinda was the chief guest of Valedictory Session while sharing insights on the potential of iCan he said, he is proud to see so many future business leaders participating in this event. He further told participants to come up with innovative solutions that use the latest advanced analytical technologies to enable businesses to do more with less. I’m very confident that the winning teams will contribute to the society with their innovative ideas. Dr Pardeep Kaura Deputy Director Academics, BFGI appreciated the efforts of the college and promised to provide all type of help from Management for these type of events. Dr Manish Gupta proposed the Vote of Thanks and ensure all the teams for full support and hand holding from the School of Entrepreneurship.

Agri Entrepreneurship Summit

A large number of progressive farmers and students took part in this Agri-Entrepreneurship Summit'. Under the panel of Professor of BFC, Dr. G.S. Mahal (Former Director Seeds, PAU, Ludhiana ), Dr. Alahrang (Managing Director, Biocarve Seeds, India), Dr. R.K. Gumber (Director, Ankur Seeds, Sri Ganganagar), Dr. Uma Saini (MD, Agri Care Organic Farming, Ludhiana) and Dr. Savita Sharma (Principal Scientist, Food Technology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana) discussion were done about seed production, marketing of agricultural seeds, problems related to organic farming, seed production and their solutions besides Scope of food processing and products, Funding agencies, startup entrepreneurship, quality control and startups for the food processing industry also discussed. During this conference, the successful progressive farmers who came to visit during the conference shared their experiences and gave valuable suggestions on increasing agricultural production and reducing wastage. The farmers and students took keen interest in panellists. The session was highly productive.

The Second Boot Camp

The second Boot Camp of Startup India Punjab Yatra was organised by Baba Farid Group of Institutions Bathinda to nurture aspiring entrepreneurs in Punjab tier 2 and 3 cities. Around 14 innovative ideas from among the 58 pitched ideas at the second boot camp have been selected for the grand finale of the Boot camp. More than 300 participants attended the boot camp held at BFGI campus.
Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Charman, BFGI welcomed all the guests and thanked the Punjab Govt for selecting BFGI to organize the Bootcamp. Mr. Deepinder Dhillon, Joint Director, Department of IT informed the delegates and students about various schemes initiated by Punjab Government under Punjab Startup and Entrepreneurship Development Policy. He also described the roadmap for establishing 10 incubation centres/accelerators in the State with strong linkages between major institutions and Industry. Further he said that Punjab Govt. is committed to facilitate 1000 start-ups in 5 years. Mr. Amit Sharma from Startup India Team, SingEx conducted the Ideation Workshop for the students in which he covered Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Idea Generation & Validation, Business Plans, Sales and Marketing Plans, Finance & Funding, Legal & IP etc.
During the Bootcamp the Train the Trainer workshop was also conducted in which more than 25 faculty members from nearby universities, colleges and schools participated. In this workshop Mr Sharma told about day-to-day activities and working of Entrepreneurship Cell in the college and various Government Schemes available the establish the cell. Dr Manish Gupta, Dean, R & I and also the Coordinator of Bathinda Bootcamp delivered the Vote of Thanks. As part of Yatra Aspiring entrepreneurs can pitch their ideas to a panel in the the Grand Finale going to held on 6th Feb in Chandigarh. The 15 winners of Startup Yatra will get exclusive chance to pitch their ideas directly to investors along with mentoring session at TieCon Chandigarh.
This camp also witnessed the presence of Mr. Darshan Singh, GM, DIC (Bathinda), Mr. Preet Mohinder Singh from DIC, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur from Punjab Infotech and some startups registered from Bathinda.

This camp aims at creating awareness among students about opening new Srart ups along with their education.
The camp started with the inaugural ceremony where National Awardee Mr Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, RCED, Chandigarh highlighting the merits of pursuing entrepreneurship as career option. Mr Singh added that he was confident that students had brilliant ideas but it was the fear that holds them back. He said that this fear creeps from the very fact that as starters one lacks knowledge of how to get start. On The first day of camp three different sessions were conducted based on the themes of Need for Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship as a career option and Entrepreneurial Qualities respectively.

In her lecture she told about the various enterprises opened in the field of Food Processing and the scope in the field of Food Industry. In the third Day of the Camp, Dr Manish Bansal, Dean Entrepreneurship Development, MIMIT motivated the students and told that failure is part of entrepreneurship. He discussed about the Marketing strategy for the new Startup and told about the various schemes opened by the Government such as Startup India, Standup India, Make in India etc. He also told about the role of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists to run the Startup.
Dr A.K. Singh, CEO of Technology Incubation Centre established at ICAR-NDRI, Karnal addressed the students and discussed about the White Revolution and the problem faced by the farmers in the field of Dairy products. He also told the success stories of few Startups graduated from the Incubation Centre. Further he said the students about documents and all other ancillaries required for Bank Financing. He also shared the different subsidy schemes of the Banks for the Entrepreneurs.
An industrial visit was also organised to Herbal Trends Giddarbaha which is a well known brand in the Food Processing which deals with processing of Allovira from which they produce more than 50 products. During the visit students also got the chance to interact with Managing Director of the company Mr Pardeep Garg. Mr Garg shared his valuable experiences of commissioning the plant. It was a great experience for all the students to be able to see the applications of Food Industry in real life.
The students attended the camp with full zeal and enthusiasm. The camp started with the inaugural ceremony where Mr. Balbir Singh, National Accredited Trainer and Former Vice President NITCON Ltd. motivated the students to pursue their ideas and follow the path of entrepreneurship. Mr. Singh added that he was confident that students had brilliant ideas but it was the fear that holds them back. Second day resource person for the 1st session was Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sidhu from Simbacart online services pvt. Ltd. gave insights of her entrepreneurial journey. Ms. Sidhu started Simbacart with an aim to uplift the rural in terms of skill development and generating employment. She encouraged the students to follow their passion with honesty and told tha anybody can reach the skies with determination and perseverance.
Mr. Navdeep Singh Gill, Product & AI Architect, Chandigarh talked about the emerging technologies of 21st century such as AI, ML and data science to aware the students about various career and entrepreneurial opportunities available in these fields. He also told about the role of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists to run the Startup.
Mr Ashish Bansal, Branch Manager from Punjab & Sind Bank talked about various schemes offered by Banks & Govt. to startups and entrepreneurs. He discussed about the Marketing strategy for the new Startup and told about the various schemes opened by the Government such as Startup India, Standup India and Make in India etc. He also shared the different subsidy schemes of the Banks for the Entrepreneurs. Further he told the students about documents and all other ancillaries required for Bank Financing.
An industrial visit was also organised to P.P. Industries, Bathinda which is a well known for manufacuring Single phase Oil filled Distribution Transformers (5KVA to 100KVA). This industry is an ISO 9001:2008 certified which has latest manufacturing facilities. During the visit students also got the chance to know about the manufacturing techniques and materials for make Single Phase Transformenrs. It was a great experience for all the students to be able to see the manufacturing process of Distribution Transformers.
Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI expresses the deep sense of gratitude to DST, Govt. of India for sanctioning the EAC and appreciated the efforts of faculty of BFCET for creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the campus and ensured full support in future. He told that this camp aims at creating awareness among students about opening new Srart ups along with their education.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP (12-14 March 2018) Sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmedabad & NSTEDB, DST, GOVT. OF INDIA

A three days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was conducted by Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Industry-Interactive Entrepreneurship Cell. This camp was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST) & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Government of India. Total 88 students participated in this camp. This camp aims at creating awareness among participants about various facets of entrepreneurship.
The camp started with the inaugural ceremony where Mr. Balbir Singh, Ex-Vice President, NITCON, Chandigarh was the Chief-Guest. While highlighting the merits of pursuing entrepreneurship as career option Mr. Singh added, he was confident that students had brilliant ideas but it was the fear that holds them back. Interaction session was organised with the successful Entrepreneur Mr. P.K. Bhandari, Chairman Cum Managing Director Bhandari Engineering Company Private Limited. He described his journey and struggles to motivate students to become an entrepreneur. Further Mr. Bhandari sharing his experience said Entrepreneurship has very little to do with money rather it is the bounce back from the failures in life.
In the third session of 2nd day Mr. Amit Bansal, Chartered Accountant motivated the students and told that failure is part of entrepreneurship. He discussed about the meaning of Entity and their role. He told about the structure, Benefits, role and functions of the three Entities: Private Limited Company a Registered Partnership Firm a Limited Liability Partnership. Mr. Bansal described the students about the flagship program run by Government of India that is Startup India and told different tax-exemptions given to the entities covered under Startup India. He also told about the role of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists to run the Startup.
Last day industrial visit was organised to Sportking Industries Bathinda which is a well known brand in the Textile Industry where the plant personnel have explained the functioning of plant to the participants. During the visit students also got the chance to interact with President of Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma Sportking and shared his valuable experiences of commissioning the plant. It was a great experience for all the students to be able to see the applications of Textile Industry in real life.
The students attended the camp with full zeal and enthusiasm. How to Start a STAR-UP

A expert lecture on How to Start a Starup was organized by IIEC on 13th February, 2018. The expert on this lecture was Mr. Ajay Godara founder CEO of ENOVATE SKILL (NITTTR Start-up).
While sharing his experiences Mr. Ajay Godara said students to “Just do it,” he further said there is no right time to execute your ideas, you will never be ready, you will never have enough money, you will never feel confident that it is the idea that will change your world. If you keep waiting, the time will pass anyway. Prototype your Idea, fail fast, learn , and you will be getting closer to your goal.”
Mr. Godara then told about the different entities in India and further told about their benefits and drawbacks. He also reflected the light on the different schemes launched by Goverment of India like Startup India, Make in India and Standup India. Further he told how to register the entity under Starup India Scheme and told about the benefits to register in the scheme. In the last he also had a practical session of students.

Pitchup-Session (29 September 2017)

On the last day of the event there was a Pitchup-session where 5 Business Plans were presented by the BFGI students. The mentor in this session was Mr Amit Mishra. In this session he also gave the tips on how to pitch the business plan and How to start a small scale enterprise. He also told what the investors require in the Business Plan and how to build a pitch for startup that sells idea.

Faculty Development Program (29 September 2017)

Mr. Amit Mishra

Mr. Amit Mishra mentored a workshop and interactive session with faculty where he told that there are a number of awareness programs for the students and Faculty in entrepreneurship. He further said that teachers play a vital role in motivating students to take up entrepreneurship as a career option. Hence it is important that teachers should be sensitized on need for being an entrepreneurial teacher. He motivated the faculty to organize small events in the classes to create an awareness of the need and importance of entrepreneurship development. Mr Mishra emphasised to improve knowledge and develop skill through diverse training methods. During the workshop Mr. Mishra also gave an assignment to the faculty and told to present their ideas in front of all.

Entrepreneur Week (25-28 September 2017)

Er. Vikas Mittal

Inaugural day of the session was chaired by Mr. Vikas Mittal, AGM, NABARD. He shared different schemes run by NABARD which support and give subsidies to budding entrepreneurs. He enlightened the students about various projects, schemes and subsidies going on to develop the ecosystem of entrepreneurship in the country .Mr Mittal quoted that self-faith and self-convincing is the main attribute required to be a successful entrepreneur. He stressed that ideas emanates from the solution to the problem. He also discussed about the major problems prevailing in the rural areas. He also welcomed suggestions and isolution/ideas from the audience regarding prevailing problems like Water Conservation in Villages as well as cities; Wheat Preservation; Education of the farmers; Bio-Fertilizers; Diary Related Problems; Modified & Controlled Cold Storage and Soil-less Framing.

Mr. R.D Singla

On the Second day of the Entrepreneurship Week Mr R.D Singla, representative from LEAD Bank was the resource person. He discussed about the various activities run by the LEAD Bank at district level. In his lecture he told the students about documents and all other ancillaries required for Bank Financing. He also shared the different subsidy schemes of the Banks for the Entrepreneurs. Starting from the history of Banks and their objectives, he told the nuances about the Pardhan Mantri Mudra Yojna, Stand-up India and subsidies available under Prime Minister Employment Generation Program.

Mr. Amit Mishra

Mr. Amit Mishra, ID8 VC was the expert on the 4th day of the Entrepreneurship Week. He said that in this era of knowledge, there are multiple solutions for every problem which can be solved through innovation and technology. He said many reports have been published which tells that, today, students of tier 3 cities are generating employment through Government of India’s Start-up program. Mr Mishra giving examples of different Startups said some of the remarkable work is going on in India by the young college students. Motivating the students to do start-ups at college he said college campuses should offer some unique advantages for launching a new venture as students have a network of resources at the ready that are students itself, Professors for validation and alumni as an mentors.

Lecture on Writing a Business Plan (31st July, 2017)

Dr. Manish Bansal

Dr. Manish Bansal in his speech said that the students belonging to tier 3 cities like Bathinda are not far away in generating employment, innovations and new ideas from their counterparts of tier 1&2 cities. During the workshop he demonstrated the various aspects needed to build a better B-Plan. He emphasised to develop the B-Plan based on 5 M’s model i.e Market; Money; Men; Machinery; and Material. He also explained how an entrepreneur must give equal importance to all these 5M’s for a better B-Plan. He also guided the students that an entrepreneur’s venture will rise to the new heights, only if it is rooted with a unique and good idea. He motivated the young scholars that every opportunity is around us, it is up to us how we analyse it and use to to generate ideas.

Industrial Visits (10th June, 2017)

Industrial exposure is very much important for the budding entrepreneurs, so in this regard, IIEC organized some industrial visits for the students in various high-tech Industries. About one dozen of students who are registered with the Entrepreneurship Cell (IIEC) participated in this tour. During the tour students were taken to five renowned industries

• P.P Industries that supply electricity transformers to Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
• Bathinda Ceramics (P) limited that manufactures electricity Insulators that are used with transformers.
• Polypipes India (P) Ltd. students got information about manufacturing of the PVC pipes and the material used in these factories.
• Koswa Industries where various articles of iron are made after melting it.
• Liberty Chemical Industries.

Sensitization Program (3-5 April, 2017)

Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal

The Chief Guest on the first day of inaugural session was Dr Gurmeet S. Dhaliwal, Chairman, Baba Farid Group of Institutions. His session started with interaction with students pitching oneself on why they want to be an entrepreneur. Then he shared his own journey of life from farmer’s son till the Chairman of multi-college campus which is covered in 60 acres of land having the strength of 1000 employees under him. He said with the vision, determination and positive attitude anybody could become successful. An entrepreneur should know the art of overcoming the challenges faced on his journey to achieve his goal. Entrepreneurial spirit is more about the power of resilience and not just your appetite for taking risks. Dr Dhaliwal further said success never teaches but failure always do, so do not be scared of failure. He then shared the SSS rule of Self Analysis, Self Improvement and Self Driven. He said anyone can steal your idea but not your Skill, Talent and Knowledge. So do not stand in Queue but make your own line.

Mr. P.R. Bhandari

Mr P.K. Bhandari is a successful entrepreneur of Malwa region. He shared his journey and struggles to motivate students to become an entrepreneur. Motivating students Mr. Bhandari in his lecture described that formal education only provide us living but self education make our fortune. He told the value of bouncing back in life. He suggested developing the habit to maintaining diary in which focus should be to create an idea and working towards it. One should practice achieving short term goals to achieve the final goal in life. Further Mr Bhandari sharing his experience said Entrepreneurship has very little to do with money. It is instead an attitude and a way of thinking. It goes beyond simply starting a company. In other words not all people who start their own organizations can necessarily be categorized as entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs challenge assumptions, recognize opportunities in periods of change, reveal patterns where others see chaos and mobilize limited resource to achieve the objective.

Mr. Sandeep Sharma

Mr. Sandeep Sharma shared his experience how after having job and handsome salary he convinced his parents and friends to start his new venture. He said the big challenge to be an entrepreneur is Self Motivation. If one is self motivated and ensure 100% efforts only then he could be a successful entrepreneur no matter what challenges may come its way. He said Business is only your idea; your capability; your talent and how you can do it. He further said sometimes one may have capability but may not have the capacity to do the business at that time you have to develop resources and options. Then with full efforts and calculated risk you could overcome all the hurdles. Every company must have strong and clear vision with which he could encourage his team to work towards the same goal and also make customers a part of its venture. Mr Sharma also discussed the future of Food Processing in India. The session of Mr Sharma was very much interactive there were many questions that were put in by the students.
